Local Craft Market

Nothing like a colourful array of goodies at your local craft market is there! Here are a few of the items my girlfriend and I had for sale at our local market.

Set up in one of our local Halls, and shared with other crafty crafters, it was a fun few days of volunteer work, selling local produce and craft and chatting with other crafters about ... you know ...
stuff!

Thats a lot of CRAFT!

Ciao bellas!

My Desktop Picture

I grew up 2 blocks from this beach, it's been 20 years since I lived there and every day when I log onto my computer it reminds me of wonderful childhood memories. Thank you to the fabulous art work of Kevin Betteridge www.kevinbetteridge.co.nz . Kevin's art work depicts the most beautiful scenery of the Taranaki coastline. If you havent already been there, put it on your "Bucket List"!!!

The Crafty Minx

This book is absolutely divine. I have had so much pleasure reading this front to back and all over again several times over I had to rush out and by The Crafty Kid too. I'm also looking forward to her new book coming out in November........... A Life in Frocks: a memoir.

Books I'm drooling over!

Hi Everyone,
I just purchased this gorgeous book yesterday by Kelly Doust.   I have had my head stuck in it ever since.   I love Kelly's simplicity.   Her books are so colourful and do-able, even I can manage these types of projects. The only trouble is I'll spend so much time languishing over every page in the next few days I wont get any sewing done!!! C'est la vie!

Denim Luggage Tags

Handmade luggage tags anyone?

I am a bit partial to denim and so I decided that rather than throw out a particular pair of well-worn jeans, I'd cut them up and recycle them.

This fabric I scored at a coastal op shop for $2.  Metres of the stuff.  It was a set of curtains in it's previous life!  (I dig the purple paisley thing!)
Just playing .....

Nikita in her re-constructed chenille dressing gown!
A play suit with one denim bird applique!

Bunting, more baby bibs and soft toy blocks.

Denim and Red Cot Quilt

So here is a picture of the cot quilt I made for my tiny niece.  Like the bibs, it's made from denim jean scraps I had lying around. I just love the colour combination.  I think little Miss Skye will too!

Baby Bibs

Welcome to one denim bird...

If you happen to be reading this it is my first ever blog post  .....  and I'm scared.
I have been collecting and more to the point, hoarding fabric for many years and I NEED a creative outlet to keep me sane so I thought I'd start a blog to keep a running track of some of the many "things" I sew.  (Sewing - it's a bit of a hobby of mine!)
Lately I have been referring to the Internet more and more for sewing tutorials, advice and inspiration.
The blogs I have come across are so colourful, helpful and inspiring I thought
hang on a minute ..........
I think I could try this too
so here goes ...
I  love denim and red together.  They sing!   My sister has just had a baby girl (after 3 boys) and I wanted to hand make something cute and special for my tiny niece.  Too many bibs never go astray with a new born babe in the home so I made these cutey pie bibs for her.   They feature red knit fabric for the backing and bird applique on the front.  The red hearts fabric in the background is the backing for the cot quilt I made as well.   More of that soon ...
